Art Basel Paris 2026 Returns to Grand Palais Under New Direction

Art Basel Paris will take place from October 23 to 25, 2026, at the Grand Palais, featuring 211 exhibitors from 41 countries in its fifth edition, now led by director Karim Crippa.

Art Basel Paris will return to the Grand Palais from October 23 to 25, 2026, with Preview Days scheduled for October 21 and 22, and a public Vernissage on October 22. This fifth edition of the fair is the first under the direction of Karim Crippa, who has expressed a focus on strengthening the platform shaped by and for the city of Paris, while maintaining a generative dialogue with the international art and cultural community.

The 2026 edition will feature 211 exhibitors representing 41 countries and territories. These participants will be distributed across three main sectors of the fair: Galeries, Emergence, and Premise. Nearly 30 galleries are joining the fair for the first time, indicating a notable influx of new participants and a broadening of the fair’s international scope.

A distinctive aspect of this edition is the presence of 12 joint booth presentations, which is a record number for the fair. These collaborative booths highlight a growing culture of experimentation and cross-gallery collaboration, as exhibitors explore new formats for presenting art within the main sector.

The fair’s acclaimed Public Program will return for its fifth edition, organized in partnership with leading Parisian institutions. Miu Miu will serve as the Official Partner for the Public Program. This program is designed to complement the main exhibition and foster engagement with a wider audience through a variety of events and activities.

The signature rehang initiative, Oh La La!, will also return on October 23 and 24. This initiative will be led by a guest collaborator from outside the art world, offering a fresh perspective on the presentation of works and encouraging new interpretations within the context of the fair.

Avant-Première, the invitation-only preview event for galleries and their principal clients, is set to return for its second edition on October 20. This exclusive preview allows select collectors and insiders to experience the fair’s offerings ahead of the public opening, providing an early opportunity to engage with the artworks and exhibitors.

French galleries will have a significant presence at the 2026 fair, with more than 60 of the year’s exhibitors operating spaces in France. This strong local participation underscores the depth and continuity of the French gallery ecosystem and its central role in shaping the identity of Art Basel Paris.

According to the Art Basel & UBS Global Art Market Report 2026, sales in France reached USD 4.5 billion in 2025, marking a 9% year-on-year increase after two years of contraction and surpassing 2019 levels. France accounts for 8% of the global art market, ranking as the fourth-largest market worldwide and the largest in the European Union, representing more than half of the EU art market by value. These figures provide important context for the fair’s role within both the local and international art markets.

Karim Crippa has described Art Basel Paris as a platform shaped by the city, for the city, and in dialogue with the international art and cultural community. The fair is said to reflect Paris as a city defined by contrast and exchange, bringing together its historic and contemporary cultures under the glass dome of the Grand Palais. The event is characterized as unmistakably Parisian in spirit, yet international in outlook.

Art Basel Paris is also noted for the personal experiences it offers to visitors, from discovering unfamiliar artists to forming connections with artworks. The fair is described as bringing together diverse worlds, with each attendee’s experience being unique and memorable.
