The Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo 2026 (HKPAX 2026) was held from 9 to 13 October, gathering more than 2,000 artists, arts groups, presenters, industry professionals, and students from 60 countries and regions across five continents. Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and sponsored by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, this second edition of the Expo adopted the theme “Passion in Motion,” reflecting the dynamic and evolving nature of the performing arts.
During the five-day event, HKPAX presented over 40 international and local performances. In addition to these showcases, the Expo hosted more than 40 curated conversations, exchange sessions, and networking activities. These sessions enabled participants to discuss future opportunities for touring, commissioning, co-production, and cultural exchange, fostering dialogue among professionals from around the world.
HKPAX 2026 also led to concrete outcomes for Hong Kong’s arts sector. Notably, local arts groups Toolbox Percussion and TS Crew signed Memoranda of Understanding with international partners from Singapore and the USA during the Expo, marking steps toward further international collaboration.
The Closing Reception took place on 13 October, officiated by Miss Rosanna Law, JP, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the HKSAR Government; Mr Jason Sun Qi-jie, Deputy General Manager of China Merchants Commercial Management and General Manager of China Merchants Culture; The Hon Kenneth Fok, BBS, JP, Chairman of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council; and The Hon Chris Ip, BBS, JP, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. The event received support from the China Merchants Foundation and the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
HKPAX has developed into a platform for exchanging ideas, building partnerships, and achieving practical results in the performing arts sector. The Expo reaffirmed Hong Kong’s position as an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange, welcoming artists, organisations, and cultural leaders from around the globe.
Following the conclusion of this second edition, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council announced that the third edition of HKPAX will be held in October 2028, continuing the platform’s role in fostering global performing arts collaboration.
