The Mainland Chinese Film Festival 2026 will be held from October 6 to November 15, jointly organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the Southern Film Culture Foundation. The festival will present 12 feature films by Mainland Chinese directors, with some screenings also including related short films to showcase the creative potential of these filmmakers.
Two films, "Falling to Earth" and "Hi, Mom," will be screened free of charge. "Falling to Earth" will be shown on September 12 at 7 pm at Salisbury Garden Lawn in Tsim Sha Tsui, with no tickets required. Other free screenings require tickets, limited to two per person, distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at designated locations starting from mid-September and October.
Paid screenings will take place at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre, Hong Kong Film Archive Cinema, and Hong Kong Space Museum Lecture Hall. Tickets for these sessions are priced at HK$75 and are available through the URBTIX website and hotline.
Post-screening talks in Cantonese will be held for "The Beneficiary" and "Evacuation from 21st Century Security" on October 10 and 17 at the Hong Kong Film Archive. Ticket holders have priority seating for these sessions.
This festival is part of the LCSD’s ongoing efforts to promote Chinese culture through diverse programmes, enabling the public to appreciate the depth of Mainland Chinese cinema and culture.
